Kilpisjärvi | Occasional water outages during times of high demand

Dear guests,

During times of high demand, there are many people in Kilpisjärvi village at once, which is why water pressure may occasionally drop and temporary water outages may occur. High demand periods include e.g. Easter time and the Vain 2 Kalaa ice fishing competition at the beginning of May each year.

The possible drop in water pressure is due to the location of Kilpisjärvi village on the edge of the Käsivarsi wilderness, as well as unusually high water consumption in the area. Improvements and new structures were implemented in the Kilpisjärvi water distribution network in early 2026 to address the pressure insufficiency issue and to ensure adequate water pressure even during peak consumption periods.
