Santa’s Hotel Rakka in Kilpisjärvi has been awarded the Green Key sustainability certificate. Santa’s Hotel Rakka is therefore the northernmost Green Key-certified hotel in Finland.
“We are very happy about this recognition. There is only one Kilpisjärvi, and we are proud to be able to concretely demonstrate our sustainability. This is a good way to continue our daily work for a more sustainable future,” says Santa’s Hotel Rakka’s Hotel Director Jaana Nykänen.
Green Key is an internationally well known tourism sustainability certificate whose criteria are based on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The certificate contains requirements related to:
- reducing the environmental load
- increasing social benefits
- supporting the local economy
Green Key is also a sustainability programme in which the participating companies commit to the continuous development of their operations. The quality of operations is verified through regular, on-site audits. The certificate is awarded by an external, independent Green Key jury.
Santa’s Hotel Rakka is part of the Santa’s Hotels chain. Five other hotels in the chain have also been awarded Green Key certificates in 2024.
